I’m trying something new.
November is NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth. It took me longer than it should have to figure out what NaNoWriMo stood for. I legit thought it was a company name. Like PaPeMelRoti
A really good friend and fellow author was raving about NaNoWriMo and though I tend to be more on the cautious side when it comes to new things, I do trust her. So I allowed her to walk me through the process like I was a 4th grader on distance learning.
It’s Day 3 and I’m hooked.
If you’ve never heard of #NaNoWriMo, like I have never heard of it despite actually being an author, NaNoWriMo is what I call the FitBit of writing. It’s just a virtual HQ where you set a goal and check in on your progress. It helps to keep you motivated and accountable.
There are links to helpful resources if you’ve never attempted a novel before and don’t know where to start or just need the motivation to clear that writer’s block. It’s not even about skill or accomplishment … it’s about the pursuit.
As are many things in life, am I right?
I don’t know if I’ll actually make my goal or even if I’ll come close to it. I do know that the sequel to Reverie is officially underway.
As an writer, aspiring or otherwise, you might not be lucky enough to have the guidance of a veteran NaNoWriMo, who will take the time to video chat with you to make sure you’re set up. At least you have this post. So go ahead … step out of your comfort zone and join me this grand new adventure.
